Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine physiology department conducted a double-blinded, placebo-controlled, three crossover design study in which 17 healthy subjects were orally administered randomly coenzyme Q10 (100 or 300 mg/d) or placebo for eight days. The subjects then performed two, two hour workload trials on a bicycle ergometer and then rested for four hours. Crocetin– If you’re a man then Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine physiology department may have some good news for you. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, 3-way crossover study they conducted in March of 09’, 14 Japanese healthy subjects (7 men and 7 women) were randomized to oral administration of crocetin (15 mg), vitamin C (3,000 mg), or placebo for 8 days. The studies subjects then performed workload tests on a bicycle ergometer at fixed workloads for 120 minutes at 2 times (a total of 240 minutes) as a fatigue-inducing physical activity. On the eighth and final day, the researchers had the test subjects cycle twice, for 2 hours each time. Half an hour after starting and half an hour before stopping (so they were already tired by this point) in each instance the volunteers cycled as hard as they could for 10 seconds. The crocetin supplement achieved significantly higher results and raised the maximum speed reached under the fatigued conditions. If you want to get more energy and stop feeling tired consider adding crocetin to your supplement regimen.
