Prohormones: Epitiostanol (Epistane/Havoc)

Epitiostanol a prohormone

Prohormones: Epitiostanol (Epistane/Havoc)

Epitiostanol, commonly called Epistane, is an oral anabolic steroid that was first introduced to the supplement market by RPN in their product “Havoc”, and later sold by IBE as “Epistane” and by Spectra Force as “Hemaguno”. Epistane may be listed under the nomenclatures 2a,3a-epithio17a methyl-17b-hydroxy-5a-androstane and 2a,3a-epithio-17a-methyl-5a-androstan-17b-ol. Epistane is highly anabolic and fairly androgenic as well. It is claimed to be 1100% as anabolic as methyl-testosterone and 91% as androgenic. This is one of the stronger compounds that has been sold over the counter.

Epistane does not convert to estrogen

In fact, it actually has anti estrogen or SERM (selective estrogen receptor modulator) like properties, meaning that it blocks the effects of estrogen in the body. This anti-estrogen effect makes Epistane good as a cutting compound or a lean gainer. Despite being a “dry” compound, Epistane is potent enough to use by itself for a bulking cycle. Epistane also seems to have a positive effect on mood, imparting a feeling of well-being while on cycle. A pre-workout dose of Epistane has been known to produce positive effects in terms of aggression, pumps, and training intensity.

Epistane side effects

Being the potent steroid that it is, Epistane does come with a list of side effects. Epistane is a methylated steroid, and while it causes less liver stress than other compounds like Superdrol, liver stress is still an issue so it would be wise to use some type of liver support with this compound. Though the anti-estrogen effects of Epistane can have positive effects, there is also the possibility of “dry” or achy joints. Some users have had success in alleviating this issue by adding in a moderate dose of DHEA while on cycle. Like many other steroids, Epistane is known to cause painful cramping and pumps, particularly in the lower back and calves.

Dosage for Epistane ranges anywhere from 10-60mg/day, and the typical dosage range is 20-40 mg/day. Users typically start with a lower dose, and then slowly work the dosage up over the course of the cycle. Cycle length is typically 4-6 weeks, though some users will use Epistane in cycles as long as 8-12 weeks. Due to the liver stress caused by Epistane, cycles this long in duration are definitely not recommended, even at a moderate dose.

IBE Epistane, RPN Havoc, and Spectra Force Hemaguno have all been discontinued at this point, but some clone products are still floating around. As with many other steroids sold on the supplement market, there was nothing truly legal about these products. they were not listed as illegal drugs and were therefore able to be sold over the counter.
