The Bitter Orange can be standardized for synephrine, which is a stimulant in the ephedrine family, with lesser effects; Synephrine can actually help you lose weight, but it is not a real strong effect. Real world results show that this is not a replacement for ephedrine. However, it is useful in combination with other ingredients. Look for a supplement with synephrine for both the neuro-stimulation and the additional fat burning effects. There are some additional items that can help make a product stronger and reduce the metabolic clearing. Synephrine can certainly benefit from these additional ingredients. As a primary fat burner, synephrine isn’t that good but, in combination, it is very useful. Synephrine HCL is the synthetic derivitive and might have some slight differences due to the multiple isomers found in Bitter Orange. Synephrine was always touted as another “ephedrine” but it never really had the same effect as a stimulant, making it a distant second. That being said, synephrine is well studied and has good data on its safety and efficacy.
