One of the big holidays is over… A lot of people enjoy the holiday foods (and please do) and use the extra calories to work hard in the gym or try to burn them off with some extra cardio.
Good timing for a blog post on how to survive cardio.
- Listen to podcasts: I love listening to educational podcasts about bodybuilding. This may be Bodybuilding Nerds Radio or TNT (Training and Nutrition Truth).
- Netflix and run: I haven’t tried it myself but I just recently talked to three people that all told me they watch shows while doing cardio. I will 100% try that out once I start prep.
- Read: When I was cutting for my show in May I would bring my Physics book and study while walking on the stairmaster or treadmill. Doing that will actually help you retain information. Research has shown that cardiovascular activity enhances memory.
- Watch TV: It’s probably the most known thing to do. As a college student with no cable service I do love to watch football recaps for sure.
Just get it done… Yeah cardio sucks but it’s necessary in order to increase the caloric output. Whether you do steady state or HIIT depends on your goals and individual preferences.
