We have put this quick guide together to help the new person decide on what products to use. Before you use any supplements however it’s important to have a good diet and exercise plan. Supplements are not a silver bullet they require a good plan of diet and exercise. If you need a quick guide on proper diet and exercise, you can choose one of our FAQ’s. There are just about as many ways to work out as there are supplements and we have found that exercise is also tailored to the individual and their body type.

Also make sure that you are in good health

BASICS

Protein

All supplement programs should include plenty of protein. This protein can come from food such as chicken and beef or it can come from a protein supplements. Protein intake should be at least .5g per pound of body weight and some trainers suggest up to 2g per pound of body weight. We tend to believe that closer to .5 per pound is a good starting point but as you see, protein is considered to be very important.  Check out our complete line of protein supplements and pick one that tastes the best and meets your nutrient profile.

Amino Acids

Amino acids are another important part of any quality supplement program.  There are many amino acids and blends that combine the most popular, but the most important amino acids are BCAA’s, followed by other forms that may have additional benefits.  BCAA’s include three amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. These are the most important building blocks for muscle cells.  People usually drink BCAA’s throughout the day and sip them during a workout.   You should take 3-5g of BCAA’s per day along with your diet program, especially if you are not using a protein supplement.

There are others amino acids like Glutamine, Arginine and Beta Alanine, but the most important amino acid supplements are the BCAA’s.

Preworkout

The intensity of your workout has a lot to do with how much you grow.  Preworkouts come in two basic varieties and you can certainly find one that fits your needs:

Ultra-Concentrates – big on stimulants and focus, the ultra-concentrate usually tastes really good and is mostly used for stimulant effects (getting you amped up for the gym). Ultra concentrates are usually lower in active ingredients like creatine and others but they do typically have a lot of ingredients which may have synergy.  Still, ultra-concentrates are made for people who like good taste and want to get a ton of energy and focus in the gym.

Full Preworkouts – these usually don’t have as heavy a stimulant load and don’t taste nearly as good, but this class of preworkouts have good amino acids and enough creatine (typically at least 3g per scoop) to give you ergogenic benefits.  All of that takes up space, so you will be choking down a lot more liquid with this class.  If you want to build mass, it’s best to use a full preworkout each time you go to the gym and experience the benefits of all of those amino acids.

Prohormones

Since our site caters to prohormones, we suggest that men who want to look and feel their best and are over 21, consider a cycle of andro prohormones.  Andro, is not liver toxic and has been proven to be safe when used by men over 21.  Modern andro has little of the side effects that people think about.  Modern andro is safe for the liver, hairline and heart.  There are many variants of andro and you can find a detailed guide here, but if you want to pick a good andro supplement to use for up to 12 weeks we suggest depending on your goal that you use one of the natural prohormones on our site.  You can find a full write up of the natural andro prohormones here.

PCT/Testosterone Boosters

We are constantly being attacked by chemical estrogens and that means we need to shoot our testosterone and androgen levels up to feel good. This is a good alternative to andro for men under 21 and what you use after a prohormone cycle to kick start your testosterone levels back to super high.  These should be taken for 12 weeks and then 4 weeks off to make sure that you have the best possible anabolic environment to look and feel your best.  Testosterone and other androgens are what make men feel good, so it’s important to be at the high end of the range.  You accomplish this by getting a anti-estrogen and testosterone booster for post cycle therapy.

Remember, it’s a sport, a hobby and a way of life.  Feel free to experiment and mix and match different supplements.  You can add in some BCAA’s to the above cycles or more creatine or even a fat burner.  You will be training for a long time and not everything work for everyone, so you need to test some things and find out what’s right for your body!  Happy lifting!
