Ergogenic Aids: Phosphatidylserine

PS is a phospholipid that is derived from soy beans. PS has been shown to help control cortisol levels. Roughly 800 mg after training saves muscles by blunting the total amount of cortisol released by your body, which can prevent muscle tear down and increased fat storage. This is good for short burst, since you do need cortisol for life and chronic suppression of cortisol can cause cortisol rebound and should probably used every other week for best results. Another benefit is that when you keep cortisol levels under control, it’s easier for your muscles to hold carbs, so you should feel an extra pump when taking PS.  PS can certainly be part of a bodybuilders long term nutrient plan and can be used after a cycle of steroids or prohormones to help blunt the muscle loss associated with “going off”.
