I know, I know, WTF TODD!?! Yes Im really pulling a Nick Nailer and lobbying for nicotine.

First lets put your fears to rest.

Every Devil’s Deal Has Fine Print, So Read Carefully

Nicotine isn’t all good.  It has a few flaws.  The worst is all the lung cancer stuff that’s related to smoking not necessarily nicotine.  Nicotine is by itself is a selective nicotinic receptor agonist.  It binds to one specific type of acetylcholine receptor, which is found in the brain and skeletal muscle neuromuscular junction.  Its not evil. Its not hand crafted by satan to wipe out mankind.  it really isn’t. Its an Alkaloid of the Nightshade family of plants, which has been used as a poison for centuries.

The Bad

Nicotine causes increase in blood pressure and can cause permanent scarring to your arteries. Thus long term use can kill you.  It is the most addictive compound on earth as addictive as cocaine and heroin. And what makes it even more insidious is it causes you’re more readily addicted to other things by potentiating the dopamine response. Like sex? It’s better with nicotine. Like Beer? Its better with nicotine. Like Metal? Its better with nicotine. Like chocolate? You get the picture.  Whatever you like and can’t live without it makes you crave it more.   Considering its extremely addictive and will kill you with decades of use, it is a dangerous tool indeed.  I myself have kicked the habit many times in my life. It can be done. Anything can be done if you try hard enough. Challenge is what makes life interesting right?

The Amazing

What on earth could be worth risking addiction to a fatal compound? Visceral fat loss for one. Visceral fat kills.  Its the second greatest cause of heart disease, right after smoking.  Would the cardiovascular damage from nicotine be worth the cardiovascular protection of decreasing visceral body fat? If you make a living looking good yes.  Visceral fat accumulates around your organs and makes your waist bigger. You could have a six pack and still have a gut thanks to visceral fat.  Ever notice how pro bodybuilders can look pregnant when they let their body relax? That’s partially visceral fat.  Researchers determined that total appetite, body fat, and visceral fat in particular were lower with rats who were dosed with nicotine.

Not convinced? It gets better.  Remember how I said that it makes other things more addictive? Well lets delve into what addiction really is.  When you learn something you form new neuronal cross bridging. Basically there are more connections between your brain cells.  That’s how memories are formed.  These memories last in some better than others. D-Aspartic Acid helps with this memory protection.    Addiction is simply learning to like something. The limbic system is a part of your brain which is the reward center. Dopamine is the reward, a neurotransmitter for pleasure.  When someone is a fast learner or has a good memory they tend to have addictive personalities because they simply learn to like things faster and have more durable connections.  So its not like nicotine is bad because it makes you have an addictive personality, It makes you a faster learner, and addiction is one form of learned behavior.

The way it acts on your mind is like no other drug. At low doses its a stimulant, and at high doses its a depressant.  It also acts as a neurotransmitter all over your body and stimulates your adrenal gland to change your physical state.  It is a prime example of Neuropsychopharmacology magic. A drug to alter your mind, and your mind alters your body. With a calculated methodology it can grant you true body mastery.  Many “side effects” are the effects of the effects, and if dosed correctly can be reproduced as a desirable effect.  The first effect is release of glucose from the liver and stimulating the adrenal gland to release adrenaline.  This is where the great majority of misclassified “side effects” come from; their not side effects if you want to be stimulated.  Dry mouth alertness, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, alertness…sounds like a pre workout to me.  So a small amount of nicotine pre workout works to increase immediately available fuel and boost metabolic rate and physical work capacity. Endorphins are released to help deal with the pain of lifting as well. sounds perfect to me. And it is going to help your brain cement in the physical technique of the lifts, making your Iron Fu approach master skill level faster. The memory and concentration is enhanced through Acetylcholine release. This makes it useful for ADD.  Alertness is enhanced through acetylcholine and norepinephrine release, Anxiety is alleviated with endorphin release and pain tolerance increases with endorphin and acetylcholine release.

A small dose stimulates the central nervous system transmission by causing an increase in dopamine and norepinephrine.  Larger doses causes serotonin and endorphins to be released and this causes relaxation.

Disease Treatment

I mentioned it’s helpful for ADD, but it is helpful for so much more.  Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Depression, OCD all likely because a little is a stimulant and a lot is a depressant. So one can self modulate their mental activity to equilibrate unbalanced neurotransmitter levels instinctively.

Additionally its memory enhancement assists with Alzheimers disease and its dopamine activity can delay Parkinson’s symptom onset.

More organic diseases that it assists with are preeclampsia, Karposi’s Sarcoma, and allergic asthma.

Nothing in life is all bad or all good. Most swords have two edges.  Life is full of grey areas.  Nicotine could be tool for cognitive and physical enhancement…but you’re playing with fire.   Of course the dark side is tempting, otherwise no one would  be dancing on the edge of darkness.
