Yeah, I Told You So….
With 33 years of consistent weight training, over 22 years as a full time personal trainer and athletic prep coach, and over 20 bodybuilding competitions, I consider myself an expert when it comes to health and fitness. I don’t just talk the talk, I walk the talk. I am also very educated having 3 university degrees in biology, exercise science, and dietetics. I get debates from people who constantly like trying to force their nutrition or exercise paradigm down my throat. I usually smile and nod because I refuse to have a Battle of the Wits with an unarmed person. I can tear holes in almost every diet because they all have strong points and weak points. I love when people get on their soapbox to tell me why we should be vegans! It’s the healthiest diet they say. I say bull crap! I will defeat veganism here with this comment… pernicious anemia! Vitamin B-12 deficient anemia. You will get sick and die without B-12 and you can’t find it in plants. Paleo is in the right direction, but has problems as well. The people who piss me off the most are the fat sugar drinking and sugar eating people who tell me my 16 oz diet soda will kill me. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. There is no definitive proof to this. There is however plenty of proof that having diabetes and being obese will lead to an early demise.
Sugar Is A White Killer
Sugar is the devil plain and simple. It is the demon responsible for many of the chronic diseases we see putting people into the health care system. At the turn of the century, all the diseases that killed people were infectious and now the top 10 killers are all chronic disease. They all are forms of inflammatory disease and I truly believe sugar consumption is at the heart of it. Sugar is rarely found isolated in nature. For instance, you eat an apple, it has fructose, but it also has fiber to offset the sugar. The only real pure sugar found in nature is honey and to get it, you may have gotten stung to death. Perhaps that is why bee’s protect it so much. Sucrose or table sugar is made up of one glucose and one fructose molecule. The fructose makes it very sweet as glucose has a glycemic index less than white bread. Most sugar came from sugar cane and had to be squeezed out of the pulp and dried. You see, sugar is never found isolated in nature for a reason. Its like poison to our bodies in constant and large amounts. The following experiment is a prime example of how devastating sugar can be to your health and your waist line. If you aren’t convinced that sugar is horrible for your health after watching this video, then I seriously question intelligence.
